2009: The Beginning of a New Beginning

Happy New Year!

It's 2009 already, and a time for fresh starts, new challenges, and new ideas. This year will mark my 16th year in eCommerce, and my 10th year continuing to build Worldwide Brands. (conceived of in 1999).

Let's get right to the heart of the matter that's on everyone's minds. Yes, we're in a recession. Yes, people are having problems with jobs, money, etc., etc. The thing that stands out to me is that everybody's treating this like something new, when it's not. The US and the World Economies always flow in cycles. About every ten years or so, we experience a recession triggered by one thing or another. Go back as far as you want to. The Gold Standard, energy prices, tech stocks, junk bonds...this time isn't the first recession, and won't be the last. Every time, that Recession ends, and we busily get back to doing the silly things that will cause the next Recession! That's just the way we are, folks; we're human, and we can be pretty silly when we put our minds to it.

The important thing here is to realize that this financial crunch will recover, and that recovery will begin THIS YEAR. If you look back over the last hundred years and more, you'll find that many of the most successful business ventures on the planet were started by a single person responding to economically troubled times. Many times those businesses were started out of need, but many more times out of the anticipation of the boom times that always follow a recession. Well, the talking heads are starting to agree that we've reached the bottom of the well, and the only way left to go is up. The time is NOW to take a page from the multi-millionaires of the last century, and get to the business of starting a business.

ECommerce is the next great business frontier, and it hasn't even begun to be explored. There's plenty of room for you. ECommerce is still growing even through the recession; imagine the boom as things begin to recover this year! More and more are people moving into the ECommerce space because they realize the tremendous potential that even one person has to create real wealth for themselves in the online space.

The great American industrialist Andrew Carnegie once said, "As I grow older, I pay less attention to what men say. I just watch what they do". Mr. Carnegie was a very smart man. If you look around, you'll see more and more people jumping into ECommerce right now, because they know what's coming! We certainly see it here at Worldwide Brands. So, never mind the talking heads on the network news who foretell doom and disaster for years to come. That's their job. Bad news sells, so they only report things in a negative light.

The real news is that the light at the end of the tunnel is coming faster than anybody believes. If Andrew Carnegie were here today, he'd be watching the smart people getting themselves positioned in ECommerce right now, so that as this coming recovery happens, they'll be making the huge profits it will inevitably generate.
